Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy for Women

Testosterone in Women:

Another prevalent issue in young women is low levels of testosterone, which may come as a surprise since women's testosterone levels decrease earlier than men's and continue to decline significantly after menopause, typically around age 21.

On the other hand, women's estrogen production gradually declines starting at age 21, but symptoms of significant estrogen deficiency usually don't appear a few years before the onset of menopause, typically around age 45. This can lead to discomfort and an increased risk of chronic diseases.

Although the ovaries are responsible for producing these hormones, they stop doing so at menopause. Progesterone, specifically, plays a crucial role in protecting against uterine and breast cancers, as well as osteoporosis, fibrocystic disease, and ovarian cysts. It also helps to alleviate pre and postmenopausal symptoms.

Every woman is born with a unique set of specialized cells in her ovaries. However, as she enters puberty, most of these follicular cells, numbering around 300,000, gradually decrease. Out of this diminished pool, approximately 600 of them play a vital role in producing hormones and competing for ovulation every month. Unfortunately, as women age, the number of these critical cells declines, which can lead to various symptoms of hormonal imbalances and deficiencies.

One of the most common sexual hormone deficiencies in younger women is caused by a lack of progesterone due to irregular ovulation. This deficiency can worsen over time, often leading to symptoms that are mistakenly attributed to "estrogen dominance," despite normal estrogen levels.

Our Approach:

Our approach to Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) for women is centered around the use of Bioidentical Hormones. These hormones are formulated to be identical to those produced naturally by the body, making them a safe and effective option for restoring hormonal balance. We aim to help women reclaim their vitality and improve their overall quality of life through this personalized medical treatment. We understand that hormonal imbalances, such as low progesterone, testosterone, and estrogen, are often linked to the natural aging process and menopause. However, we also recognize that these imbalances rarely occur in isolation. That's why we take a holistic approach to HRT, addressing other hormone deficiencies and imbalances that may be contributing to your symptoms. This can include commonly overlooked hormones, such as growth, cortisol, and thyroid. At our clinic, we only prescribe bioidentical hormones for our patients. We also combine these treatments with other evidence-based therapies, including medication, nutraceuticals, and herbal remedies. Additionally, we provide practical lifestyle recommendations tailored to your specific needs and abilities. By working together, we aim to help you reach your full potential and feel your absolute best.

At Empower HRT Clinic, we offer convenient telehealth appointments to make them easy and private for our patients. The first appointment (Initial Intake) covers a thorough history, interview, education, and lab test orders. The second appointment (reports of findings) focuses on reviewing the lab tests, creating a treatment plan, and scheduling future follow-ups. Upon the compilation of the initial intake and the report of findings, we enroll our patients in a monthly membership program to help make the cost of the treatment program more affordable. Once patients become members of our clinic, they can enjoy discounts on medications and high-quality supplements. Hormone adjustments and balancing can be done through phone or written communications, with a return visit to Dr. Liqaa needed only every 4-6 months. Regular testing and adjustments are required and can be conveniently performed through a lab near your home.
